Entertain with a DIY Chalkboard Tray

Happy Friday! Man for being a short week it sure seemed like a long one, but it’s Friday and the weekend is upon us again! Since I am back to being the only person living in my studio I was getting lonely and needed a reason to get people to come back over, so what better way then to host a get together with a little wine and cheese tasting.
I like to live by my 80/20 rule when it comes to eating healthy, but as far as healthy drinking I would say my diet consists of 80% wine and 20% water/coffee. I know I know it’s terrible, but who doesn’t love a glass of wine to unwind after a long day. One day do a wine tasting and learn more so I can go to a restaurant and order a glass of wine without just saying “anything red” and get a look from the waiter like “she’s obviously not a wine drinker”. While I am a wine drinker, I’m not a very picky one as you can tell haha. However, I have found some go-to red wines that I can’t get enough of and all under $20! Check out my favorite red wines below.
And of course, nothing pairs better with red wine than cheese! I’ve been looking for a fun way to serve food at get togethers and wasn’t having luck finding anything at a reasonable price, so I decided I’ll make something. I got the cutting board at Bed Bath and Beyond and a small can of chalkboard paint from Home Depot to make this serving tray for less than $25. The best part is you can reuse it for just about anything and it only takes a few minutes and materials to make! Happy Entertaining!

Materials

  • Wooden cutting board (I got mine from Bed Bath and Beyond and used the bottom side with no trim)
  • Chalkboard paint (Home Depot)
  • Paint sponge

Instruction

1. Paint one side and the edges of the cutting board and let dry
2. Draw and enjoy!
