You never can go wrong with a colorful table setting, even if there’s already snow on the ground outside.
Thanksgiving is only two weeks away and I’m kicking off the holiday early with two back to back Friendsgiving celebrations this weekend. Although I am not hosting either Friendsgiving, I wasn’t about to let my first holiday season in the new place go by without creating a fun tablescape. Especially since….(drumroll please)…. I have a dining room now. Crazy, right? Well maybe not for some, but for those who also live in a city you know how exciting it is when you can officially buy a dining room set. I guess you could say I finally feel like an adult? I went from a studio where I ate at my coffee table to a one bedroom where I fit a dining room table in the corner with two chairs and a bench. I won’t mention the fact that I had to do the cupid shuffle every time just to sit at the chair because those days are in the past. I now have a dining room, one with a table, four large chairs and a buffet…who am I ? I’ll tell you who, one who’s been dreaming about the space aka how to decorate and fill it long before actually moving in. More to come on the space shortly but in the meantime, let’s get back to this table.
Pink, orange, blue and everything floral/pumpkin for this table setting. I wanted to create a table that was fun, bright, colorful and not to mention easy to throw together the night before because nobody wants to be tossing around dishes and place settings as their guests are about to arrive.
So with a few easy steps, some adorable table pieces and even more delicious recipes, you can host a Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving of your own in a snap. Sharing all the details and a million photos (because I couldn’t get enough of all these colors) below!
The Table
Flowers: FTD
Pumpkin Chargers: Martha Stewart at Macy’s
Blue Floral Dishes: Martha Stewart at Macy’s
Orange Linen Napkins: Hudson | Grace
Pumpkin Soup Bowls: Martha Stewart at Macy’s
Gold Stemmed Wine Glasses: Martha Stewart at Macy’s
Gold Utensils: World Market (knife and fork)
Gold Votives with Orange Candles: World Market
And then I added some mini orange and white pumpkins for another touch of fall!
The Drinks
For this celebration, I recommend offering a variety of wine and beer. Since this holiday is mainly focused on the food and most like to enjoy the flavors of the dishes vs. the drinks I recommend offering a variety of good food pairing options; 2 white wine, 2 red wine options (I would avoid overly sweet wines), a rose, a brut sparkling wine and an amber-ale or lager beer. For the wines, I personally always resort to my go-to, Martha Stewart Wine Co. and this Thanksgiving case is perfect for entertaining!
The Menu
Saved the best for last, because isn’t the food always the best part of the celebration? For this Thanksgiving feast, I wanted to try some dishes outside of my comfort zone, but knew if I scrolled Pinterest for hours I would end up picking dishes that I normally cook up. Luckily Martha & Marley Spoon came to the rescue and trust me, it did not disappoint.
This year Marley Spoon is offering 4 delicious Thanksgiving recipes with step by step instructions for how to prepare each dish. Plus, you can prep all dishes the night before.
- Cheesy Sausage Stuffing
- Roasted Root Vegetables with Brown Butter, Herbs & Almonds
- Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes & Green Beans
- Spiced Apple Oat Crisp
- Turkey (not available with Martha & Marley Spoon but an essential to the meal, Step by Step Guide on how to cook the perfect turkey here)
