There’s breakfast and then there’s breakfast that involves all of my favorites (chocolate, peanut butter and banana) into one perfectly blended smoothie bowl. Now that’s what I call a breakfast!
I’ll admit I’ve been seeing these smoothie bowls all over the internet lately and I kept scrolling past them because, well, a smoothie belongs in a cup with a straw so I can sip it down while running late to catch the train to work when I should actually be sitting at my desk already but who’s on time these days anymore anyways. Right? Not me, that’s for sure.
Ok getting distracted. Back to these straw suckers in bowl form.
I’ve been trying to take small steps away from social media lately to enjoy moments while in them and learn a thing or two during my daily commutes instead of watching dog videos on Facebook. I will admit I miss the dog videos, like that one of the two pitbulls who are best friends and snuggle each other, gets me every time but ok back to these bowls. I’ve started using my morning commutes to catch up on actual news and to get a little reading in. Whether it’s a cookbook (yes, I read cookbooks and actually they’re my favorite thing to read!) to figure out what recipes I want to make that week, a health magazine to learn a new workout or two to try at the gym or a book to get lost in, I’ve found that this starts my day off a little better than scrolling through social media and being envious of everyone outside enjoying the beautiful weather while I head to my office to sit in my cubicle all day…sigh.
Lucky for you guys though, this new reading thing is where I discovered a smoothie bowl that I actually wanted to try. Plus, I had to see what all the hype was about too. So I ripped the recipe page out of my magazine and tossed it in my purse to make this past weekend and let me tell you, I now see what all the hype was about.
You get your smoothie fix and if you’re like me and like a little crunch, you get that too with the toppings! Plus, I may have added more granola as I went because you never can have enough granola.
So it’s safe to say I’m officially a fan of the smoothie bowl craze, but I’m still convincing Steve as when I asked if he wanted to try it he replied “Where’s the straw? I’ll trust you that it’s good” haha he’ll be a fan soon enough;)
