When there’s a reason to celebrate you can bet a million dollars, I’m all in!
Last week our pup, Rosie, turned one. Can you believe it? It feels like yesterday I was able to pick her up with just one arm but 50 lbs later that’s not the case anymore. It’s crazy to think how quickly this past year has gone by and that I would not go all out with throwing her a 1st birthday party.
Yes, I’m “that” dog mom but you only turn one once. And two. And three…ok, only kidding. The rest won’t be AS big;)
However for the first one we went all out and with the perfect Mother’s Day theme, Roses and Rosé, for you to recreate for your mom this Sunday because nothing says “party for mom” more than flowers and a little rosé along with one of these adorable gift sets by ONEHOPE. They have the perfect gift set for every mom in your life, including the one below for the mom who loves a good wine and movie night with the perfect scented candle lit.
The Decor
What’s a party without some fun decorations? For this theme, I partnered with Paris312 and FTD Flowers to create the perfect “rose” themed party. I was hoping to do this at the park as a picnic themed party, but due to 48 hours of non-stop rain, I had to opt for an indoor party instead so went with a white table and pink, white and gold color scheme. I started with the food table and used different shaped and sized cake stands for the food and then dressed it up with a rose chair garland that I turned into a centerpiece. I placed two jumbo pink balloons in the background along with a beautiful bouquet of roses to complete the look. Lastly, I had been dying to recreate a flower wall so using gold glitter wash tape, taped fake roses in lines across a wall to create the perfect backdrop for the bar cart and photos!
The Food
The best part, am I right? For this party, I opted for a picnic style spread with a “build your own burger” bar and some delicious caprese skewers with fresh mozzarella. The “build your own burger” bar consisted of chicken, turkey or beef patty with your choice of pretzel, white or brioche bun and your favorite toppings and condiments. I paired it with a fresh kale salad and caprese skewers and finished it off with some delicious baked goods. I usually try to make everything the night before but with a crazy busy schedule, I opted for some already prepared items from Plum Market to make the morning of quick and easy to throw together. Nothing like a party spread in a snap!
Also, thank you everyone for your kind words about Rosie. Just a quick update, we did do x-rays and she will be getting a hip replacement this month so lots of treats and snuggles headed her while while she recovers:) If your dog has ever gone through a serious surgery, please send all tips and advice my way!
