Dash of Sparkle: Sweet Summertime

Ok I know it’s not technically summer yet but with Steve ending college this weekend and a family vacation next, it sure feels like summer already. I always thought time would slow down after college, but I feel like it’s only moving faster. Just the other day I had to stop and calculate my age. No joke, I couldn’t remember if I was 23 or 24. Slightly embarrassing and slightly a wakeup call to slow down and enjoy the fact that I’m still only 23.

Last week someone asked me where I see myself working when I’m 30 and I think my mind went blank. 30? That’s 7 years from now, I just got the job of my dreams 9 months ago. You mean I have to start planning for another job down the road? Heck in college you barely plan for the weekend ahead, but in the real world I guess your one year planner won’t do.

I’ve always been a planner, but with time flying by so quickly these days I’m trying to cut back and just enjoy whatever comes up. This weekend Steve’s graduation, next weekend Cancun and next month I celebrate my 30th and get a new job…only kidding. I’m stopping while I’m ahead with planning this summer. No booking up every weekend with events or trips, just simply enjoying whatever I feel like doing that weekend and taking my sweet time doing it:)

Put down the pen and paper and erase whatever you had in your planner for this week. Summer is around the corner, take this week to enjoy the last of spring and whatever pops up. Whether it’s a last minute dinner date with the girls or a road trip to a new town, be open to whatever comes your way and take your sweet time doing it:)
