Green Juice for Beginners
After a birthday celebration, holiday weekend and vacation in Dallas, I think my body could use a good cleanse. As mentioned in my Green Machine smoothie post I have tried a few raw juice recipes before, but none that I could see myself drinking every morning. So I bought a few premade green juices from the store the other day thinking professionals have to know what tastes well together, but still felt like I was drinking a salad. Since I prefer to eat my salad I went by Protein Bar for lunch the other day to grab a salad and thought I would try one more shot at a green juice. I asked the lady at the counter if I am new to raw juices, which one she would recommend. She was completely honest when I said the one with strawberries sounded good and she said you’d be happier ordering grass haha. She recommended their HI-5 and man was it delicious! It changed my mind about green juices forever, they can be good for you and taste good!
Although it was nice having them make it for me and for some reason things always taste better when someone else makes them, I think a 7$ juice each day might not be so good for my wallet. So I decided I could replicate this at home. I wrote down the ingredients so I wouldn’t forget and played around with the ratios until I got it just right! I know these all sound pretty gross together, but trust me it’s so good!

Ingredients

-1 large bag of spinach
-1 large bag of kale
-1/2 bunch of cilantro
-1 and a half fresh pineapple (feel free to add more, depending on how sweet you want it)
-ice (optional)

Instructions

-Cut pineapple into large chunks (step by step instructions on how to cut a pineapple below)
-Rinse all greens
-Push each ingredient through a juicer in order listed (except ice)
-Pour juice into a blender and blend with ice if you prefer a thicker consistency
-Stir and enjoy!

Step 1: Twist top of pineapple off

Step 2: Cut pineapple in half vertically

Step 3: cut the ends off of each chunk

Step 4: Cut the back part off of the pineapple

Step 5: Cut the core off, it’s a lot harder than the pineapple

Happy juicing!
