I’m back and with only a slight mexi-coma. It’s been quite the whirlwind of events these past few weeks. Two weeks ago I went back for Steve’s graduation, last week I was in Mexico and this week Steve is moving to Chicago for a new job! I haven’t quite had the chance to sit down and comprehend how quickly that all worked out but all I know is I couldn’t be more happy or excited about this next adventure.
You know when you think there’s never going to be an end. Like when you’re counting down to an upcoming trip that seems like years away or running a race for what feels like hours. These past few years of long distance dating for Steve and I felt just like that. We would countdown to the next visit or an upcoming holiday break but never to the end because well honestly, we didn’t know if there was one. We hoped after graduation he would land a job in the same city, but there was no guarantee. Luckily last week after multiple interviews, Steve received a call that he had been offered a job at the Chicago location. My heart about fell through the floor when I found out. This means no more 8 hour road trips, movie nights over Skype, texting each other our play by play to feel like we’re together or saying goodbye with a hug so tight that we can barely breathe because we don’t know when we’ll see each other next. We are beyond thrilled to see what the future holds for us here in Chicago but in the meantime are just enjoying being able to explore the city together. Not over the phone but hand in hand:)
I’ve always been one for cheesy quotes and nobody says it better than Dr. Suess. I used to send Steve Dr. Suess quotes before big tests to give him motivation for studying and last week when he graduated I gave him this one with no clue that that place would be here in Chicago with me:)
Dash of Sparkle
We all have those moments we are wishing for, whether it’s achieving a personal goal, starting a new career or taking a dream vacation. Instead of always looking forward to something that seems like forever away, trust in today and the journey that lies ahead. You never know where it will take you, but I’m sure it will be exactly where you want in the end.
