Ok I have a confession and a lot of word vomit if you’re ready for it. First and foremost, part of this post may look a little like Monday’s post if you saw it before I changed it. I was literally cringing when I hit publish. I no joke had a moment after publishing it questioning if I should continue blogging because honestly there was no reason someone would have wanted to read that post. There was no point to it and I tried rushing it last minute so I was not happy at all with the quality of the whole thing.
I have been reading so many other blogs lately trying to learn as much as I can about blogging and taking good quality photos but instead of learning a thing or two ended up unhappy with my own. Her photos are so much better. Her style is so much cuter. Where did she find that awesome backdrop? All these thoughts ran through my head and then I realized it was Sunday night and I just lost all my daylight to do my shoot for tomorrow’s post. Hince the poorly lit photos that were in Monday’s post. I went ahead and moved forward with the post anyways because I didn’t think I would have any other time this week to do it again between work events, blogger events, coffee dates, dinner scheduled with friends, errands, spending time with Steve, oh and that thing you call sleep.
Now time to be real. A. I’m not a professional blogger (if that’s even a thing), I started this blog not having a clue what I was doing. B. I’m not a professional photographer, my google searching and youtube stalking can only get me so far. C. I’m not the president trying to run a country, I have time to do things and to do them the right way. and D. There are worse things in life that a bad post. So time to slow down, snap back to reality, get things done and knock them out of the park with a smile, because at the end of the day nobody expects you to be perfect, just to be you:)
Below are my 5 rules of thumb for this week to get back on track.
5 Ways to Slow Down and Be Happy
1. Breathe. Well that seems like a given, right? This one is actually the one that makes the biggest difference. Instead of hiding behind your hat with everything that’s overwhelming you, take a second to sit back and breathe. Remember it will all get done, just take it one step at a time.
2. Hide the Electronics. This is no joke. You’ll find yourself more productive and happier that you didn’t spend half your day on your couch stalking instagram feeds. The other night I said I was going to get ahead and caught up on things around the apartment, but I sat down for a quick social media break in between laundry loads and found myself needing to get ready for bed 3 hours later…terrible habit I’m trying to break.
3. Take a Walk with a Friend. Getting outside in the fresh air is an immediate mood booster. Plus it will help you slow down and enjoy that time to catch up with a friend while getting a little exercise in, another mood booster..double whammy!
4. Make Time For Yourself. Whether it’s winding down with a good book or a little night of pampering. A fresh coat of nail polish, a bubble bath and a little exfoliating does the trick for me. My latest go-to would have to be the new
Bioré® Charcoal line especially the Bioré® Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser. It’s a little more gentle than my everyday face wash, but yet still gives a deep clean and leaves my skin tingly smooth. The oil free and Natural Charcoal ingredients draw out and trap deep-down impurities making my skin refreshed and relaxed while soaking in my bubble bath and singing my heart out to Whitney Houston.
The new line can be found at your local Target in the skincare aisle of the beauty department. Plus right now if you buy any of the three Bioré® charcoal items between now and 6/20 you get a $5 gift card…double whammy (Ok, I’m done with those I promise).
5. Pat Yourself on the Back. Don’t ever forget to give yourself credit. You’re only one person and you’re doing the best that you can, don’t ever forget that!
Ok, the word vomits over and I hope you think this post was better than Monday’s (if you painfully saw that one), now I want to hear how you slow down and cheer up when in a rut. As mentioned I’m sticking by these rules for this week and taking the weekend for a little time to myself. This means a little magazine reading and facial mask cleansing. Be sure to check out more from the new Bioré® at Target line here.
