Sometimes we just need to put on our stretchy pants…or skirt.
After the other weekend’s wedding festivities a stretchy skirt was exactly what was needed before heading back home to the city. From a delicious bridal brunch to a decadent wedding dinner, I would have to say I was a bit nervous about not fitting in my bridesmaid dress the day of.
Good thing for stretchy materials;)
The other day, my friend Jess from 26 and Not Counting wrote an amazing post about body image and healthy habits. I’m talking one of those posts when you think “oh my goodness, get out of my head” or “is anyone else reading this or is this just for me?”. She absolutely hit the nail on the head with finding happiness and balance in life. Something that many 20 somethings these days struggle with due to long hours at the office, late nights with friends or always being on the go with side hustles and projects. We want to do it all, workout at 5am every morning, eat 5 small healthy meals a day, work hard at the office, hangout with friends and then come home and go to bed by 10pm so we can do it all again but in reality life definitely doesn’t go like that. Maybe in our heads it does…or at least in mine.
Cue the scene: It’s a beautiful sunny morning at 5am, I’m walking to the gym in cute workout clothes with my yoga mat in one hand and green smoothie I just homemade in the other…
Cue reality: It’s 8am, I overslept my alarm because I stayed up until 1am writing a blog post after having drinks with a few girlfriends. My hair is a curly fro so I throw it in a knot on my head, grab my purse and sprint to the train. See I got my morning workout in there somewhere..
Ok, so life isn’t as perfect as it seems in our heads and finding that balance of putting ourselves and our healthy habits first is something I am definitely working on everyday.
And in the meantime, I’ll just be over here living in my stretchy pleated skirt. This outfit is perfect for a casual summer day with the light weight of the skirt and the loose cotton tee on top, this is definitely going to be my go-to this summer. I paired it with my favorite sneakers and a cross body bag for a day of exploring in San Antonio.
Oh and I may have snagged some leftover tulips from the wedding for an added touch;)
Thank you for sharing my post, girlfriend! I quickly realized I’m not someone who can workout in the morning (at least during the week)…I love my sleep! haha Working out at night has been a tremendous stress reliever for me and while I know it’s not always feasible to get away from work at a decent hour for some, any little bit helps! Cheers to the weekend ahead 🙂
No, thank you for writing it lady! I agree, sleep then gym hah. That’s a great way to look at it and I’m trying to make it a goal to be active for at least 30 minutes a day so those nights when I don’t make it to the gym I don’t feel as guilty;) Cheers!!
I’m soo guilty of sleeping through my scheduled gym time. But I do love this skirt, it’s beautiful and it also looks very comfy! Plus, navy is one of those colors that truly go with everything.
Glad to know, I’m not alone;) Thank you and yes, never can go wrong with a navy piece. Thanks so much and hope you have a lovely week!
