It’s been almost one year since Steve and I moved into our first place together and it’s been about 1 month since I finally finished decorating…
Hey, you know what they say: “good things take time”. Or you just change your mind so many times that it takes a long time.
What can I say? I’m absolutely terrible at making decisions. I want everything to be perfect in an imperfect way. And well… it’s hard to be perfect and imperfect at the same time.
But whether it took 2 months for me to make up my mind or 9, I wouldn’t change a single thing about our home. Between the pops of color throughout the space and the coziest breakfast nook for me to enjoy my morning coffee in, our home is our absolute favorite place to be.
When packing up my studio to move in with Steve, I quickly realized I was packing up most things to sell. Unless Steve wanted gold tassel garlands above the bed and pink flowers in the bathroom, we were pretty much going to have to start from scratch with decorations and furniture.
No pinks? No framed shoe and lipstick prints? No Audrey Hepburn quotes on the wall?
…I’m doomed.
Decorating in gender neutral is hard when your eye is always drawn towards pinks and yellows but luckily the amazingly talented Amy Fasnacht from Havenly came to the rescue and helped us find the perfect balance of preppy, colorful and boy friendly decor.
But before we get to the good stuff, let’s take one quick look at the before…
Now hurry and keep scrolling so you can erase that from your memory, because look at the place now.
Can’t believe it’s the same space!
Amy and the Havenly team blew it out of the water with this design and the best part was how budget friendly Amy was able to make it. As our first place in the city, we wanted to keep decorating costs low and Havenly worked with us to do exactly that. Plus, Havenly is letting me offer all Sparkles & Sprinkles’ readers 20% off their services with code SPRINKLES20.
I told you you would want to keep scrolling;)
Ok, but enough of my chit-chat time to enjoy the makeover!
I couldn’t have found a coffee table book that described our home more perfectly:) Love this book from the adorable online shop, Coco and Duckie.
And one last thing…we got a puppy! Meet Rosie.
If you follow me on instagram (@meganpatty_) you may have already seen my many posts as I can’t get enough of her adorable puppy face.
Special thanks to my talented friend for the beautiful photos! Photography by Emily Newman and to Havenly for helping us makeover our apartment.
