Happy Monday, can’t believe Christmas is already almost here!
Well according to the calendar that is, because outside it feels like summer is around the corner. This past weekend I went to Milwaukee to visit one of my best friends and for the first time this winter I wore a hat, scarf and gloves. Call me crazy or maybe this weather crazy but are we sure it’s Christmas?
Maybe I’m just looking for another excuse to post-pone the fact that I still have some Christmas shopping to do and lots of packing to start on…
Packed or not, I’m heading out of town for the holidays in a few days and getting ready to spend time with family and friends. And although I’m not having to entertain guests of my own this holiday season, I’m rounding up some of my top ways for those who are playing hostess to prepare for out of town guests who will be staying with you during the holidays. This season you’ll be ready to impress with these few quick and easy steps to help you prep your home for those traveling in town to celebrate together.
4 Ways to Prep for Holiday Guests
Living in the city means not a lot of space for guests, but no need to buy a storage unit thanks to Ziploc® Space Bag. While strolling through Loew’s the other day to pick up light bulbs I came across the perfect way to store clothes to make room for my guest’s luggage and my continually expanding wardrobe. These airtight, reusable Ziploc® Space Bags® perfectly compressed* my fall/spring sweaters to fit neatly under my bed so my guests have room to hang their clothes in the closet.
No tree? No problem. Adding just a few holiday decorations can make the perfect welcoming and hom-ey touch to any space. Try sprucing up the bedside table with some fresh flowers and candy canes for guests to enjoy or adding a winter blanket at the end of the bed for a holiday touch.
3. Wifi Accessible.
It may be the holidays, but we all know we still need our internet and e-mail access. Making your wi-fi information quick and accessible helps eliminate the process of digging for the password later. Print out or write down your login information and place it in a frame for a cute way to display the commonly asked question of “what’s the wifi password?”.
4. Holiday Scents.
Everyone loves a good smelling home, but one that smells like Christmas in a jar is even better. Add a holiday candle or incense to your space to freshen up the interior smell. Some of my favorites are the smell of cookies in the oven with the sugar cookie candles or a simple cinnamon to bring out the holiday spice smells.
Anyone playing hostess to out of town guests this Christmas? What are your best ways to prep your home for everyone’s visit?
