Marble cake stands, marble counter tops, marble everything over here!
With Valentine’s Day around the corner and my spare time being 0 to none, I wanted to come up with a fun, easy and cheap last minute gift for the gal-entine’s brunch hostess or the girlfriend who could use a cupcake and bottle of wine this year.
Who am I kidding? We could all use a cupcake and bottle of wine..every year.
I’ve kind of been loving the marble trend lately and after finding this super easy and cheap marble tutorial, I knew I had to try it out.
Ok, maybe more than once but trust me after you see how easy it is, you won’t blame me.
Materials:
-White porcelain cake stand (I used this one from Bed, Bath & Beyond)
-Nail polish color of choice (do not use quick dry types)
-Large bowl or container
Instructions process adapted by DIY Candy
1. Fill bowl or container with hot water leaving an inch or two of room at the top. The hotter the water the better for this part.
2. Then lightly drop a 3-4 drops of nail polish on top of the water. The nail polish should spread quickly, if not run a toothpick through to spread it.
3. Quickly dip the cake stand into the water and catch the nail polish onto the surface. Continue to repeat the process until you achieve the look you desire. I dipped mine about 4 times to get a nice coverage and swirl pattern. Once completed set on a paper towl to dry over night.
4. To finish it off, coat the stand with a layer of mod podge to prevent the paint from peeling off.
