A little wining, dining and a new series on the blog today.
The other day a friend texted me and said “hey, I’ve been searching through your blog on things to do when I visit Chicago next month and can’t find anything”. My first thought was “you mean you actually read my blog!?” and then my second one was “you’re a genius, why didn’t I think of that?”.
Drum roll please….
Today I am officially introducing the Chicago series. (cue the confetti and trumpets)
Ok, so not really that exciting but after over 2 years of living in the city and constantly being asked about things to do, places to visit, things to see and where to eat when in Chicago I figured it only makes sense to start a Chicago series. Each month, I’ll be posting a different type of round-up featuring some of my favorite Chicago spots.
And while I’m no Chicago tour guide, as I find myself still relying on google maps almost everyday, I’d like to think I’ve experienced enough things to share my favorites with you.
So whether you’re in town for a weekend, a week or just moved here, be sure to follow along for some of my favorite parts of Chicago.
P.S. I’ll be storing these posts under the “Lifestyle -> Chicago” tab for you to come back to reference to;)
Now let’s get started, shall we.
First up, Chicago restaurants. Now since there are endless dining options in the city, I decided to break them down by categories. Starting off with best dining atmospheres.

Big Star: Tacos, tequila and the perfect outdoor atmosphere. If you’re looking for a place to grab margaritas with the girls or some a la carte tacos for a date night, this is the perfect place to go. Note: they only take cash, so make sure to stop by an ATM on your way
The Dawson: This modern and sleek restaurant has the perfect handcrafted twist..and I’m not just talking about their perfectly handcrafted cocktails. From the front entrance to the outdoor bar, this restaurant is both design appealing and taste bud pleasing.
Hubbard Inn: Between the dim lighting, the dark exposed wooden walls and family style seating, this place is the perfect spot to stop in on a cold winter day/night. Sit at the bar and watch the mixologist create the perfect handcrafted cocktail or come by early for a decadent brunch including deep fried, pb, banana and bacon Monte Cristo for your weekend indulgence.

Fig & Olive: Escape to the Hamptons right here in Chicago within this open air and clean, sleek dining destination. Located right above the luxury shopping boutique row on Oak St., this Mediterranean flavored cuisine and upscale restaurant is the perfect spot after your long day of shopping or before a night out on the town. P.S. the crostinis are a must!
Momotaro: Voted best new restaurant and as the first modern Japanese restaurant in Chicago, this is one not to miss. Forget the BYOB sushi. With equal parts contemporary and traditional this upscale sushi destination is perfect for a late night date night or a glass of sake at the bar while watching sushi be prepared right in front of you.

Carnivale: Escape to the circus within the city. This Latino inspired dining destination creates the perfect global, festive and fun atmosphere. With a splash of color and energetic vibes, this dining destination is the perfect spot to bring the parents during a visit or when looking for a fun dining experience without the after event.
RM Champagne Salon: With marble fireplaces and chandelier ceilings, this romantic getaway located in the West Loop area is the perfect date night destination. Enjoy a glass of champagne at the outside bar, dim lit by Parisian style hanging lights or a few new American small plates inside by the fireplace.

Pump Room: Located in the public hotel, this one of a kind dining destination brings new American cuisine to an elevated supper club atmosphere. With a solar system resembled lighting overhead and dark wooden tables nestled into crescent style booths, this is the perfect spot for a formal night out.
Fulton Market Kitchen: From one room to the next, Fulton Market Kitchen is sure to impress the out of town guests and friends looking for a fun night out. This art gallery inspired warehouse creates the perfect trendy, lounge atmosphere for boozy brunch on Saturday or a decadent dinner before a night out.

Cindy’s: Located inside the newly renovated and historic Chicago Athletic Association Hotel, this restaurant is a must try when in the downtown area. After a day at the pier or a selfie at the bean, Cindy’s is sure to top off your tourist visit with the most breath taking view of the entire city. With an over head dome window covering and a balcony that overlooks Millennium Park, this one is perfect for the tourist or the person who’s lived here for over 2 years;)
Homeslice: You haven’t done Chicago, until you’ve had some Chicago pizza. No not that deep dish stuff, I’m talking Homeslice pizza. Complete with an outdoor space with marquee “Chicago” letters and seating space inside an old revamped silver trailer, this log cabin style pizza joint is the best home away from home spot..or in this case out of the downtown area spot.
