On-the-Go Hairstyles
Between the rain and the humidity lately, you might as well call me Hermione Granger because man oh man this hair is something that cannot be tamed. My hair has always had a natural curl, which causes quite the love-hate relationship. Somedays I step out of the shower throw a little gel in it, run out the door and it looks as if I put a waving wand through it and then other days I run out the door and it looks as if I just got hit with an electric shock. I know my curly haired girls can relate.
So while making the most of these warmer days hoping from one activity/event to the next, I’ve been needing a quick on the go up-do because by lunchtime my hair is doomed. So up it goes. A quick flip, twist, pull back and on to the next event.

Wrap Around

You never can go wrong with a classic ponytail, but if you’re headed out for more than a gym date than this is the perfect one for you.

Start by curling your hair and then pulling it back into a pony. Take a small piece from the bottom of the pony (as these pieces are your longest if you have layers) and wrap it around the ponytail holder until covered. Using two bobby pins criss cross pin the piece of hair under the pony to hide it.

I also have a confession I was being lazy with doing my hair everyday this weekend so I popped over to the Hair Cuttery up the street to help me with this one and did they do an awesome job or what? If only I could have them curl my hair every morning so I didn’t have to rep the Harry Potter frizz.

Flip and Twist

Bringing back the childhood part and flip style with this one. And I have to say it may just be my favorite as of lately since you don’t even need a mirror.

For this one you simply pull back your hair into a low and semi-loose pony. Then using your hands separate the hair right above the pony holder to create a hole. Flip the pony through the hole and it creates the perfect twisted look with no bobby pins or hair spray.

Also thanks for all the compliments on this photo about my new hair color the other day and thanks to George the Salon for such an amazing job! I was nervous about trying the ombre style, but am slightly obsessed with the way it turned out. If you’re looking for a good hair color in Chicago, you have to check them out. Be sure to ask for Lauren and Nicole, they were the sweetest!

Braid-band

Last but not least, a braided style. You never can go wrong with a quick braid and this one is perfect for the beach or controlling crazy frizz.
Start with two braided pigtails, a little closer to your ears than normal. Fasten the ends of each braid with a clear rubber band. Pin the first pigtail down across the top of your head as far as it goes and cross the second one over covering the end of the first. I tucked the end of the second one into the first a little to hide the bobby pin.
