It’s Friday and I’m going out with my shades on! Well not literally…but on my shirt. The summer is officially over, so time to dress up those graphic tees with blazers, cardigans and cute skirts for the Fall. I was really wanting a graphic tee to wear for this transition into Fall stage, but couldn’t find one like I was picturing in my head. Does anyone else have that problem where they envision something to wear and then it just doesn’t exist? I tend to do that a lot, which ends up turning into a DIY project for me. In the end it’s even better because you can make it exactly how you want and usually for less.
I discovered this printing transfer paper while at Michaels craft store the other day and am hooked. This stuff is genius, you can literally print anything your heart desires onto this paper and iron it onto fabric. I bought two shirts to try it out on because I knew I wouldn’t be able to stop at just one. I haven’t picked my graphic for the second one yet, but here’s how I did the first (plus a printable graphic for you to use yourself)!
Materials:
- Plain basic t-shirt
- Transfer Paper
- Iron
- Printer
Step 1: Print your favorite graphic or the one I used here onto the transfer paper. If you are printing words be sure to mirror the image so it will iron on from left to right. (See instructions here)
Step 2: Cut along the edge of your image, as close to the image as possible
Step 3: Lie your shirt on your ironing board and iron over it once to remove wrinkles to prevent bubbles
Step 4: Line your image on your shirt where you would like it to appear, image side face down
Step 5: Slowly iron over the paper, making sure to go over every part of the image
Step 6: Peel back the transfer paper, be extra careful around the edges
Step 7: You’re done!
Great DIY! So cute! Keep it up! 🙂
