Life Lately: September/October

Amazing spread at the DL Loft influencer dinner with Simon G and Modern Luxury

Scrolling through my photos to create this post and remind myself of what I’ve been up to these past few months (since lately I can’t event remember what I did 24 hours ago), I realized I have a problem…food problem that is.

Either I eat a lot of food or I feel the only time I need to take a picture is when food is involved.

Either way, I’m not complaining because these past two months have been quite the roller coaster of activities and excitement. From one event to the next and one birthday celebration to  “jump for joy” moment, these months have flown by and I’m updating you on it all below!

Bon Aprontit Turned 1!

Can you believe it? Bon Aprontit turned one and in case you missed it, I shared all the exciting updates on the anniversary collection here. With new products including my first patterned holiday apron, fruitcake, I have been quite the busy bee with the company these past few months. During the holiday season, you could say Bon Aprontit becomes my second full time job but no complaints here as that’s my favorite part of running a side business, busy season. Plus, I’m working on an exciting collaboration and am ramping up for three holiday pop ups in Chicago this month! If you’re in the Chicago area, be sure to come by and say “hi” at the Randolph Street Market, November 18-19, I’ll be there all weekend!

Steve’s 27th

Another year, another celebration! Last month Steve turned the big 27 and could no longer pull off saying he’s in his early-mid twenties..or at least that’s what I told him;) We celebrated with what may be our new favorite way to do date night, a food crawl. Eating our way through the west loop, getting a course at each different restaurant (including Bad Hunter, Proxi, Fulton Market Kitchen, etc.) and surprising him with a group of friends at the last stop to join in the celebration, you could say it was a great birthday all around.

Wedding Cakes and Save the Dates

What’s a “Life Lately” post without a little wedding update? Especially since we are only 7 months out! Crazy, right? Seems like yesterday we were still over a year away and it was never coming but now after booking some of the last things on our to-do list, you could say we’re ready to get married…ok, maybe not quite yet but it will be here before we know it! Last month we saved the best for last and did our wedding cake tasting. Between trying all the different cakes and buttercream and talking all things design, it was the perfect way to check off the last wedding vendor. Plus, we got to eat cake for dinner…talk about dinner goals! And along with cake, came our save the dates. We met with our paper vendor and finalized our Save the Dates which means it’s officially official as it’s time for people to start marking their calendars!

Event Hopping

Between working in the event industry and being a blogger, September and October always look a lot like this: wake up, work, event #1, event #2, bed, repeat. It’s one of the busiest times for events as people like to sneak them in before they hibernate for the winter and this year was no different. We kicked things off at Chicago Gourmet in September where we ate and mingled our way through Millennium Park and then put ourselves in a carb coma last month at the new Vapiano off Michigan Avenue Grand Opening Party. Seriously if you haven’t been yet, you must go and make sure to try the pesto rosso (it’s to die for!).

Monthly Goal: Put Your Health and Happiness First

Lastly for this month’s “Life Lately” post I wanted to end with another monthly goal. Last month was all about focusing on spending time with friends and family and as you can see from the friend game night and killer cheese spread photo below, I think I accomplished this one quite well. As for this month, I’m really focusing on putting myself first. Not in a conceded kind of way (obviously) but in a happy and healthy way. With a crazy busy last few weeks and prepping for the holidays that are just around the corner, I’ve slacked at taking time to workout, make healthy meals and get to bed before the sun rises. So this month is all about taking the time to treat my body well with proper meals, normal amounts of sleep, getting back in the gym and making time for mini stress relievers like baking, walking Rosie, etc.

What have you been up to this month? Ddi you try last month’s “Monthly goal”? Please share below!
