How to Host an Octoberfest Party

Octoberfest Party

So it may not be Friday yet, but I’m sure we could all still use a drink..or two.

Since moving, Steve and I have constantly told people we were going to throw a little house warming party for the new place, but figured a beer tasting party sounded a little more fun.

Beer, booze and delicious food…yup, that’s more our kind of party.

This was the perfect quick and easy party for a chilly fall Saturday and the perfect excuse to get all our friends together for an evening!

Today I’m sharing how you can throw an Octoberfest beer tasting part of your own in just a few simple steps.

Step 1: Create Collateral. Each guest was asked to bring their favorite fall flavored beer (Octoberfest, pumpkin, harvest wheat, etc.) for everyone to taste so when entering the party we gave each person a tasting card to fill out rating the beers they tried. This can be done simply in a word doc and printed out or you can have them made like these cute ones by All She Wrote.

Step 2: Get to Snacking. When everyone’s drinking beer all night, they’re going to want something to snack on. No need to get fancy, just a few simple beer pairing snacks will do the trick. I grabbed a few bags of chips, some fall colored candy, pretzel rods and soft pretzel bites with dip served in my new favorite dip bowls and serving tray by Martha Stewart.

Step 3: Get creative. When serving the food, I took a few common household items to create the perfect bar themed snack table. Including using beer glasses for M&M holders and six pack cases for chip holders (stole this idea from the lovely Debi Lilly‘s pumpkin party). I also decked out the table in mini painted pumpkins to give it more of a fall themed look.

Step 4: Set the Bar. Last and most importantly, create the perfect bar setting with a variety of beer glasses including these adorable “cheers” govino beer glasses by White Elephant Designs and some fun beer themed napkins like the ones seen above by All She Wrote. I added my BAR marquee letters I made from Michaels and a few fall foam leafs I had leftover from a project. A few simple items did the trick nicely!
